Good news! Now, Assamese language available on Google Translate

Google Translate added 24 new languages together with 8 languages from India.

The Assamese language has lastly discovered a spot in Google Translate. The tech big has introduced the addition of 24 new languages on Google Translate . Out of the 24 languages, there are eight Indian languages together with Assamese, Meiteilon (Manipuri) and Mizo. Other than these three languages, Google Translate will now have Sanskrit, Bhojpuri, Dogri, Konkani, Maithili amongst others. Google Translate now has a base of 133 languages. Google has shared the information via a tweet.

The language obtained its recognition after six years of tireless efforts by Assamese folks from over 22 nations all over the world and the decision by the previous DGP of Assam Police to take up the problem on a mission mode. Now, the Assamese language has obtained recognition on Google too.

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his happiness and pleasure. He tweeted, “Delighted that @Google has added Assamese in its language translation software among the many 24 new languages integrated, 8 of that are native to India. This may promote extra analysis on the attractive language & popularize its use throughout digital platforms.”

Asam Sahitya Sabha (ASS) president Kuladhar Saikia, who’s a former IPS officer and ex-DGP of Assam Police, made a worldwide name to Assamese audio system throughout pandemic to go on a mission mode to contribute extra assets in Assamese language and get a spot in Google Translate.
