The language obtained its recognition after six years of tireless efforts by Assamese folks from over 22 nations all over the world and the decision by the previous DGP of Assam Police to take up the problem on a mission mode. Now, the Assamese language has obtained recognition on Google too.

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his happiness and pleasure. He tweeted, “Delighted that @Google has added Assamese in its language translation software among the many 24 new languages integrated, 8 of that are native to India.
